A group of organic suppliers and growers from around Westmeath have gathered together to form a food co-op in Athlone town. The food market takes place each Friday from 10am to 3pm in St. Marys Parish hall on Northgate St. in Athlone.
The aim of the co-op is to provide organic, local, ethical and bulk produce to the consumer.

Athlone Fairtrade and Our Ladys Bower transition year students have teamed up to supply Fairtrade tea and coffee and Athlone Amnesty group will also be present to discuss current campaigns and human rights initiatives. It is envisaged and hoped that the co-op will be an outlet for promoting activities within the community.
St. Marys Parish Hall is an ideal venue in that it provides both indoor and outdoor space for stall-holders to display their produce and for visitors to shop, stroll around, eat lunch or sit down and relax.
