Skerries Community Garden Scarecrow Festival 2024
On Sunday afternoon Skerries Community Garden will host their annual Autumnal Festival at Skerries Mills.
Sunday the 20th of October 12 pm- 4 pm Prizes for Most Creative Costumes!
At the Scarecrow Festival, expect Face painting, Competitions, Arts, Crafts, and more. Great out and feel the vibe this October. Skerries Community Garden supports bio-diversity, is home to the rare carder bee, and is cared for year-round by a group of volunteers, who are passionate about pumpkins and much more. The colorful space connects you with nature and is overlooked by Skerries Mills Willow Terrace and Watermill Cafe. The Community Garden brings you this fantastic and slightly frightful event in the run up to Halloween, offering a great opportunity to wear your costume! Join them on October 20th at Skerries Mills. Skerries Mills Guided Tours
The fully restored complex brings to life the authentic workings of a five sail windmill, four sail windmill, water mill and bakery of the 1800’s. This provides the visitor with examples of how wind and water energies were harnessed by our ancestors.
Tours operate daily, year-round and are recommended for age 5+

Built on the site on an ancient fort, at the Four Sail Mill, you will step back in time to the late Middle Ages when this area was known as Holmpatrick, due to Saint Patrick’s links with the area. - The Five Sail Mill
Reach the Five Sail Mill, an iconic landmark offering you a panoramic view of the islands off Dublin and the coastline as far as the Mourne Mountains. - Museum

Art at The Mill
Skerries Mills has always appealed to artists. As a social enterprise they proudly showcase the talents of local artists, collections can be viewed in the Watermill Café, each exhibit runs for 2 weeks.
With the exhibitions changing often there is always something new to look at on a visit. Skerries Art School also unveil their annual exhibition here, no child is left out and the Watermill building dazzles floor to ceiling with an array of imaginative pieces.

The Mill Bakery opened in the 1840s, Skerries Mills is proud to still serve delicious freshly baked goods every day, in the Watermill café, which is nestled in the Watermill building and open to the public 7 days a week.
Whether you are seeking brunch, lunch, savory snacks, or delicious cakes and cookies, relax and remember this is a community Café with a no-rush charm and warm welcoming atmosphere.

The Craft Shop

Heritage Week – Day Out
On Tuesday, August 20th they invite you to Celebrate Harvest, Milling, and Bread in Fingal. This event for all the family is brought to you for Heritage Week by Fingal Heritage Office and Skerries Mills Dublin. Join baker Lucy Forde to explore the journey from harvest to freshly baked bread, try your hand at traditional milling techniques, explore bread making and taste the final product! Don’t miss out on this unique experience celebrating Fingal’s rich food heritage and the joy of freshly baked bread.

Farmers Market
Every Saturday, through hail, rain and snow! Skerries Mills Farmers Market begins at 10 am. The market hosts farmers and crafters and runs until approximately 2 pm. You will find, eggs, cakes, a baker specialising in gluten-free produce, vegetables, farm to folk meats, and more. Various craft stalls and music retailers come to market, and a range of fresh juices are always readily available. A perfect Saturday morning stroll when bright and sunny, and welcoming your support in less favorable weather!

Educational Tours
Skerries Mills Dunlin offer tours for both primary and secondary as well as third-level students and language school groups. Learning incorporates the heritage landscape, wind power, waterpower, engineering, and social history.
Surprisingly they have an extensive archive on local residents involved in the 1916 Rising and the Irish War of Independence. With extensive insights into topics such as agriculture through the ages, this is an Ideal visit for your Transition Year students.

Directions To Skerries Mills
The mills are located at the southern end of Skerries town, on Ireland’s east coast, only 30 km north of Dublin City. Its easily accessible by public transport (bus or train) free parking for private vehicles and ample coach parking.
By Car
M1 Exit 4, 5 or 6. Parking available at Skerries Mills Carpark is free of charge and the town of Skerries has many parking areas. Electric vehicle charging points available at Skerries Mills Carpark for visitors- commencing summer 2024
By Train
Skerries Train station is a 5-minute walk from Skerries Mills. Dublin- Drogheda/ Dundalk commuter line. From the city centre board at Connolly, Pearse or Tara Street stations. Connections from Malahide, Donabate and Belfast, some stations may require a change. Direct available from Dublin City with 35 minutes journey time. Services: Dublin – Dundalk commuter or DART and Dublin Commuter.
