Located in the very centre of Limerick City – known throughout the world as the spiritual home of rugby. The International Rugby Experience aims to provide a new space to draw visitors to Limerick, as well as providing a new hub for the local community.

Visitors can put their own skills to the test on their exciting Legendary Skills floor, where some famous faces take them through virtual running, kicking, handling and strength trials.

The Six Zones
Visitors will move through six, awe-inspiring stages centered around World Rugby’s values of Passion, Discipline, Integrity, Solidarity and Respect, enjoying stories from grass roots rugby up the players, clubs and nations that have reached legendary status.
Feel the hairs rise on the back of your neck as you move through the six, awe-inspiring stages that follow the game from a community, grass roots level up to the players, clubs and nations that have reached legendary status. Discover the real people behind the game, as well as how it has impacted politics, brought rivals together, transformed communities and improved lives.
LEGENDARY MOMENTS
Gather in the “dressing room” and wait for the count-down to kick off! Immediately become immersed in the pre-match excitement as you step through the tunnel, surrounded by legendary moments from the great game. Feel the emotion and intensity as you begin the Experience.
LEGENDARY BEGINNINGS
This space celebrates the grassroots of rugby featuring stories of amateur rugby clubs around the world and across time. Hear the inspirational stories of initiatives and renowned players, fueled by passion to become legends of the game. No one single element defines a rugby legend. Talent, sacrifice and dedication are the minimum requirements.
LEGENDARY SKILLS
Running interactive with Keith Earls
As with all things in life – discipline, time and dedication to core skills can lead to vast improvements to your game!
This section is divided into four fun interactives where visitors can compete against family, friends and even the Legends themselves in the key skills of rugby – kicking, handling, running and strength/technique.
This zone also allows visitors new to rugby and fans looking for more information, to discover the laws of rugby union introduced by Nigel Owens, as well as the chance to actually make decisions at “Be the Referee”.

LEGENDARY TEAMS
This zone explores team dynamics, the stories of professional rugby clubs around the world and their vibrant communities of players, supporters and staff. Featuring a large scale, physical interactive to showcase team moves and set plays, this is another fun floor to test your skill and shine a light on the unique sense of camaraderie, leadership and team spirit embodied in the sport. Rugby and indeed sport brings people together. Friendships that last a lifetime are formed in the dressing room. Lots of those friends have come on board and will feature inside their walls.

LEGENDARY NATIONS
Legendary Nations is centered around the meaning of Respect in the international game and what it feels like to play for, and support, your nation! Through an immersive projection show, feel the intensity of stepping out on to the pitch as a rugby legend on the international stage and embrace the emblems, colours, first caps and fun facts!
Lose yourself in their interactive Global Growth map and hear stories, told by the players themselves, of how rugby has impacted politics and changed lives throughout the world.
LEGENDARY PLAYERS
End your journey in the unique sixth floor space, complete with stunning views of Limerick city centre. Stand amongst your heroes in this epic archive celebrating the legends of the game, all of whom possess the five values explored through the experience. Learn about their career achievements, read testimonies and quotes and find out unique stories about their inclusion – then pick your own Legend XV!

Team Building and Corporate Events
The International Rugby Experience offers a unique team-building activity for your upcoming corporate event. Have fun and engage in some healthy competition on their full floor of exciting interactive skills trials as well as enjoying a motivational journey through six awe inspiring levels where your team will discover the values of Passion, Discipline, Solidarity, Integrity and Respect.
As with all things in life – discipline, time and dedication to core skills can lead to vast improvements to your “game”! Our second floor is divided into four fun interactives where visitors can practice the key skills of rugby – kicking, passing, running and tackling (each introduced by a difference Legend of the game) – with their scores featured on a Leaderboard and a “Find Your Position” take away.
Visitors can also enjoy the large scale, “Teamwork on the Pitch” interactive area which showcases team moves and set plays – another fun floor to test their skill and shine a light on the unique sense of camaraderie, leadership and team spirit embodied in the sport.
Since all activities are enclosed within the building, weather is never a problem when enjoying the International Rugby Experience.

International Rugby Experience Building
Designed by world renowned architect Níall McLaughlin, this new 7-story red brick building is located in Limerick City Centre on the main thoroughfare at 40 O’Connell Street and will provide a new space to draw visitors to Limerick, as well as providing a new hub for the local community. In addition to a world class interactive experience, also included is a ground floor store at the corner of O’Connell Street and Cecil Street and a first-floor café directly overhead overlooking Limerick’s main thoroughfare.
The building also contains a number of unique event spaces which will be further draws to the building and Limerick generally. It is anticipated that these unique event spaces would be used by the wider community for cultural, arts, heritage and educational presentations.
The Store – open daily
Featuring over 30 local, regional and national artists and brands, expect to find everything in store from Limerick art, contemporary ceramics and unique wellness products to rugby inspired prints, books and bespoke, branded clothing and souvenirs.
The Café
Come and enjoy the great taste of artisan quiches, pastries, pies and gourmet sandwiches, and award winning coffee from our trained baristas, in the great atmosphere of their first floor café in the heart of Limerick City. Open daily from 9:30am – 5:30pm to all members of the public.
