Berkeley Costume and Toy Museum Wexford

Berkeley Costume and Toy Museum is a private collection of 18th and 19th century toys, dolls and costumes, displayed in the drawing rooms of Berkeley Forest House.

The Museum houses 18th and 19th Century toys, costumes, toy carriages, embroidered textiles and rare dolls, many of them from Irish families. The property is that of the family of George Berkeley, in whose honour the University of California is named. The fine collection is displayed in the drawing rooms of Berkeley Forest House.

A small pretty garden garden adjoining, which is open to the public and is included in the visit. Victorian goat carriage rides are available for children on occasion.

Open May to October.groups only by appointment. All tours are guided by Countess Ann Bernstorff, the proprietor.

Catering can be organised for large groups and the gardens available for picnics.

Berkeley Forest House

Berkeley Forest House is a Georgian building, the home of the owners, dating from 1780.

Two large rooms are occupied by the Berkeley Costume and Toy Museum of 18th and 19th century costumes, dolls and antique toys from the early 13th century to modern times. The exhibits rangefrom rare and delicate artefacts to simple and robust playthings, and everyday garments of the past.

A little distance away is a small area of 15 acres of raised bog where Bog Rosemary grows.
