ACTIVE 8 and on yer bike
National Bike Week Event
Active 8 will be a hive of health and fitness in Shanganagh park. This Free event is to encourage kids to get on their bicycle, get out and get fit. June 14 marks the start of National Bike Week so to mark the week DLR Events and DLR Sports Dept are delighted to announce the return of Active 8.
This afternoon of cycling events includes a cycle safety training and proficiency course with the cycle safety school, bicycle maintenance checks, and a cycle trail around the park.
Also in this year ACTIVE8 there is Cycle Trail around the park, a Novelty Bike and “Bring UR Bike” where you can learn how to decorate your bike for free.
There to entertain the kids on the day at Active8 will be Unicycle entertainers along with the DLR events DJ and balloons will set the scene for an afternoon of bicycle fun and there are medals for all those who complete the trail. The faster you pedal the more power you generate and of course they will be belting out summer tunes all afternoon. Unicycle enthusiasts can learn to ride a unicycle with the DLR events Unicycle instructors and workshops or try cycling a seven-seat bike!
The idea behind Active 8 is to build a habit of regular exercise in a safe environment for children and bring back the bike in anticipation of long bright spring and summer days!
Like all DLR Events, Active8 is an initiative by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and is a family friendly event.
