Cannonball Run Around Ireland In Aid Of Barretstown
Motor car fanatic and Barretstown benefactor Gerald Kean is to officially launch Ireland’s first ever CannonBall Run In Aid Of Barretstown alongside Ireland’s racing supremo Rosemary Smith and his ‘co-drivers’ models Nadia Forde and Georgia Salpa.
How often do you see 130 sports cars anywhere but a Grand prix let alone in Dublin’s Merrion Square? Well such a spectacle will be on view for all to see as the first ever Cannon Ball Run to be held in Ireland steams ahead from September 11 – 13 in aid of Barretstown. On the eve of the first anniversary of Barretstown Founder Paul Newman’s death, participants will dress in the Cannonball theme for this historic event. Think Burt Reynolds, Fara Fawcett, Arab sheiks, ladies in catsuits driving Lamborghinis, Dean Martin and co pilot Sammy Davis Jnr as priests, Jackie Chen as the Chinese racing driver, Roger Moore as 007 – dreams are set to become a reality!
From the Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin to the Mercedes AMG and Porsche and Masseratti, a mouth-watering selection of astounding autos will travel in convoy with a Garda escort, through Ireland for this exciting three day event. In fact there will be €50m worth of cars in show. A Bugatti Veryon will be flown in from Dubai and takes its place amongst fantasy drives such as the Lamborghini Countach (one that was in the original 1980’s Cannonball film) and the Lamborghini Diablo – every boy’s dream car. Straight from the prestigious Geneva Motor Show the Lamborghini LP560-4 will make its debut on Irish Soil. Also on show will be the KTM XBOW (sponsored by KTM Austria and UK) one of only 2 in the world, the ‘absolute classic sports car’ Mercedes 300SL Gull Wing 1954 and not forgetting the McLaren SLR – one of only 3 in Ireland.
The Derek Mooney show have become the Media partners for the event and Audi has sponsored their cars. Brenda Donoghue and the darling of the weather broadcasts Nuala Carey are driving as Thelma and Louise in a 5.2litre Audi TT hoping to pick up their hitch hiker Brad Pitt on route.

Day 1
Start Merrion Square, Dublin 2 to Killarney passing through Newbridge, Portlaoise, Cork, Kinsale and then finishing the first day in Killarney
Day 2
Start Killarney around 11.30 passing through Castleisland, Limreick, Shannon onto Ennis, Gort and finishing around 17.30 in Eyre Square in Galway where all cars will be parked up for over an hour to give you time to look over them.
