Drogheda Samba Festival

Drogheda Samba Festival is a popular annual family event based on the carnival culture of Brazil.

Performers inspired by the sound and rhythms of Brazil , Latin America and Africa gather in Drogheda for a weekend of music and festivity culminating in a colourful parade through the town’s streets .
 

Hip-hop, bossa nova, reggae,  African and classical percussion have been added to the festival programme over the years. Along with  workshops and classes, an open air concert , street theatre.

Recognised as one of Europes top samba festival  it is often called  "Rio on the Boyne"

The main Carnival Parade is on Sunday 28 June at 16.00 on Fair street, West street and Shop street followed by performance with around 60 percussionists at Scotch Hall Waterfront and other groups.
