East Cork Early Music Festival
East Cork Early Music Festival now the leading festival of its kind in Ireland, will once again offer a feast of concerts over five days in September, in glorious venues from Cork city to Youghal. This year’s festival runs from 16-20 September.
Performances featuring musicians of the highest caliber take place alongside an educational programme of master classes, lectures and performances in schools, colleges and local communities.
For the first time, in 2009, the Festival is proud to introduce an exhibition of instruments and music relevant to the period. A range of makers and publishers will have their wares on display at Fota House on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 18, 19 and 20 September.
At the same time Fota Wildlife Park will host an innovative musical event for children on Saturday 19 September between 14.00 and 16.00 and will allow children of all ages and all levels of musical abilities to take part in singing, dancing, composing and playing of musical instruments and allowing children to discover the magic of Early Music in a relaxed and safe environment.
Each workshop will be devised of activities which last for approximately 10 minutes, allowing easy access. A complete session will last approximately 30 minutes.
