EcoAdventure Ireland believe that outdoor education is a life skill everybody should have. It not only educates but gives confidence and energy to every participant. EcoAdventure Ireland also believe that learning in an outdoor environment should be fun and exciting for students. They believe that by combining with An Óige their programmes at Knockree meet all these criteria.
Their instructors bring a combined experience of decades in outdoor education and are qualified in their relevant disciplines bringing an enthusiasm that will help every group enjoy their visit to Knockree.
EcoAdventure Ireland Activities
- Pony Trekking
This is an introduction to horses and horse riding, most suited to beginners. Those who have no experience with horses are given the opportunity to go on a led trek.
This activity is only available as part of a Full Day Programme
- Mountain biking:
Explore the local area on a the mountain bikes, with several circular routes to explore with our experienced instructors. Enjoy off road biking for a great experience.
- Walking
Set in the beautiful Glencree Valley and on the “Wicklow Way” there are many guided walks available to explore on foot.
- Basic survival training
Learn how to start a fire, find food and build a shelter. You never know when these skills could come in handy
- Archery
Archery is the practice of using a bow or crossbow to shoot arrows. It has historically been used in hunting and combat and has now become a precision sport. Under the guidance of their experienced archery instructor learn this ancient skill to become a proficient archer.
- Orienteering
Orienteering involves navigating around a set course in order to locate control points. Navigate your way around the Knockree course using your map reading skills and never get lost again. They also offer GPS orienteering
- Team Tasks
Have fun learning how to work together in a team while performing set tasks that will demonstrate the interdependency of members and benefits of working as a unit.

These are provided by EcoAdventure Ireland at their new €4m state of the art property near Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow.

EcoAdventure Ireland Pony Camps
EcoAdventure Ireland Pony Camps are run in partnership with their sister company Glendalough Equestrian & Adventure Centre. They ensure a perfect mix of education and fun with fully qualified staff looking after each child’s requirements.
The camps run from 10am-4pm at several times of the year including Mid-Terms, Easter, July/August, Halloween and Christmas.
A special show for parents is held where each child is presented with a certificate and rosette. Each camp includes treks, lessons and stable management education. Residential Camps also include a day trip to the Irish National Stud.

EcoAdventure Ireland Directions
EcoAdventure Ireland is located less than one hour drive from Dublin. Approx 3 miles outside Enniskerry, Co Wicklow
Once on the N11 you take the ‘Enniskerry’ exit. And follow the signs for Enniskerry. Once in Enniskerry town centre, travel up the Glencree Road for approx. 3 miles.
Turn left at Kilmalin (Knockree Hostel sign), continue forward, then take next sharp right turn (also signposted Knockree Hostel). Continue forward until you meet the hostel on your right-hand side.
