Glenroe Open Pet Farm
Glenroe Open Pet Farm in Wicklow is a family-run farm which offers hours of fun and relaxation for all the family. Since it opened to the public the farm has welcomed thousands of families from all over the country and beyond who come to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful Wicklow countryside.
At Glenroe Open Farm the kids can feed and get up close to a wide variety of farm animals and pets, including Sika deer, sheep, lambs, cattle, pigs, goats, ducks, geese, turkeys, peacocks, hens and chicks.
Pets’ Corner is where the young and curious visitors can hold and pet their favourite furry animals such as rabbits, gerbils, guinea pigs and chipmunks.
Overlooking the open farm is a well-equipped playground suitable for toddlers and children up to 12 year olds. An indoor area is designated for wildlife education and here you can learn more about the animals and birds that live on the farm.
Glenroe Open Farm has picnic tables which are located outdoors on the open farm or indoor in The Piggery.
Stroll along the nature walk and take the kids to the Secret Garden if you can find it.
Glenroe Open Farm was the principal location for the RTE soap series “Glenroe” for 18 years (from 1983 to 2001) as home to Miley, Biddy and Dinny Byrne.
Dinny’s cottage is now home to the farmhouse museum and you can find a room in the exhibition area dedicated to photographs from the Glenroe series.
Complete your outing by relaxing in the Coffee Shop where you can choose from a selection of home-made produce.
