Trinity College Dublin

 

Trinity College Dublin, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I, is the oldest university in Ireland.

The Old Library, built between 1712 ans 1732, was renovated to coincide with the College’s 400th anniversary in 1992.

Visitor facilities include the Treasury, which houses the Books of Kells and other early Christian manuscripts; the Long Room, the

largest single chamber library in the world containing 200,000 of the library’s oldest books in its oak bookcases; and the Dublin Experience, located in the Art Building, which is a multimedia representation of the history of Dublin from Viking times to present day.

Open Mon to Sat 9.30 to 5pm,

Sun 9.30 to 4.30 (Oct to May 12pm to 4.30)
