The Virginia Pumpkin Festival which is an annual event held in the town of Virginia in County Cavan and is a blaze of colour and fun for all the family. A halloween weekend filled with live music and street entertainment, fireworks display at Lough Ramor lakeshore with live music and food.

As daylight fades around 5.00p.m. where the streets of Virginia will be throng with people getting into their positions for the much anticipated parade to start. The lights will go out and the town will take on a on a new demeanour. As the Halloween parade makes its way from the showgrounds up the town it will be something special.

A huge treat is in store at the end of the parade when everyone makes their way down to the shores of Lough Ramor for a Spectacular Fireworks Display on the water.

Get your holiday weekend and Halloween off to a chilling start with a frightening trip through the naturally spooky Deerpark Woods.

Grand Carnival Parade

The Virginia Illuminated processions has developed year on year with the finest Illuminated Parade in the country! This year they will present a procession at the same scale featuring aerial performers on the Sky Hook and the Empress Tower, mechanical horses, glittering mirrors, dancing girls and exotic giant lanterns as well as the famous giant pumpkin! Complimenting LUXe again will be all action Masamba with Brazillian beats and exotic dancers.

Street performers will also be out in the street entertaining the crowds during the afternoon on Sunday.

Spectacular Fireworks Display

Virginia’s night sky will be transformed into a blaze of colour on Sunday Night. A sight to behold, this fabulous Fireworks Display will take place on the shores of Lough Ramor with the blaze of colour reflected in the water, it will be a wonderful spectacle.

Children Events

Costumes, Props and Pumpkins Workshop for Children ages 4-12 years

Children from 4 to 12 years old will be guided by Artist Kim Doherty to make their own pumpkins, costumes, masks, insects, characters, creatures and more

Haunted Forest Walk

You thought it was scary last year – well this year it will be scarier and creepier. Be prepared to meet ghosts, witches and other nocturnal creatures. Not for the faint-hearted . Scare the Scariest at the Virginia Pumpkin Festival’s “Haunted Forest Walk” by wearing your own SCARY Halloween Costume. There will be snacks served along the route – to keep you fortified.
